Start of Construction of PRO COSARA's Ecology Centre

A dream has come true! We are very happy to have made a start on building the new ecology centre. PRO COSARA and Prof. Dr. Salvador J. Peris of the University of Salamanca (Spain) launched the project: "Promotion and Development of Agro-Environmental Policy to Protect the Soil, Water and Biodiversity of the San Rafael National Park, Paraguay" (09CAP1-0222). The UNESCO chair is financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

Start of construction of PRO COSARA’s ecology centre

At the heart of the project is the information centre. It will cover an area of 230 m² and include a multi-function room, administration office, science museum, library and visitor toilets. The centre is ideally located in San Rafael for PRO COSARA and the environment agency (SEAM) to carry out their plans. The centre will provide environmental education, fire fighting training, training in sustainable agriculture and scientific analysis. We hope that the centre will be used by Paraguayan and foreign students as a base to research the biodiversity of the Atlantic Forest and spread information about the threatened ecosystem. The research will be used as the basis to plan effective protection.
